“Not Even Sana”: G-Dragon Denies Dating Rumors But Why So Quiet About Lee Joo-yeon?

Once known for his “no comment” stance, G-Dragon seems to be changing his approach to dating rumors except when it comes to Lee Joo Yeon.
In recent months, the BIGBANG member has publicly denied dating speculations involving former Miss Korea runner-up Kim Go-eun, actress Han So-hee, and most recently, TWICE’s Minatozaki Sana. Yet despite this newfound openness, G-Dragon has remained completely silent on persistent rumors involving former After School member Lee Joo-yeon raising eyebrows and sparking debate over his “selective responses.”

The rumor surrounding G-Dragon and Sana emerged when he posted photos from the Coldplay concert in Korea. The post included a close-up of Sana from TWICE’s guest performance and even tagged her personal account not the group’s adding the cryptic Japanese phrase “Eh?” before quickly deleting the post.
Confusion grew, and it wasn’t until a month later that G-Dragon’s agency, Galaxy Corporation, stepped in to clarify:
“On April 14, G-Dragon filmed a YouTube show with Sana and attended the Coldplay concert on April 22. The post was simply a friendly gesture, not a romantic one,” the agency stated.
“We initially didn’t explain it because it could’ve spoiled the program’s filming.”Advertisement
This marks a clear shift from his previous silence. For example, he called his rumored romance with Han So-hee in December “completely untrue” and described Kim Go-eun as a “close friend” when rumors surfaced last March.

However, fans can’t help but notice the glaring exception: Lee Joo-yeon. Since their alleged relationship first surfaced in 2017 with leaked selfies and videos the pair has been tied together in the media at least six times. The most recent speculation came from a seemingly innocent cat photo posted by Lee. Fans noticed the background and cat accessories bore a striking resemblance to G-Dragon’s home and pet.
Still no statement.

This inconsistency hasn’t gone unnoticed. Why respond to new rumors but stay silent on the longest-running one? On MBC’s Radio Star in 2017, G-Dragon explained his reluctance to comment:
“Acknowledging [rumors] can help or not. I’m cautious because I don’t want the woman involved to suffer. The public has the right to know, but I don’t have the obligation to tell.”
That logic may have applied in the past. But in 2025, with multiple denials now under his belt, fans and media are wondering: Is G-Dragon being strategic or just selective?
The double standard is fueling more theories than it quells, especially among fans who feel that his silence on Lee Joo-yeon speaks louder than any denial.
